Reflection on the Organized Webinar Title: “The Storytelling of Art: A guide to Concept Design.”

The webinar we organized was titled "The Storytelling of Art: A Guide to Concept Design." It took place on November 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and was hosted by our team, the Skyrocket Collective. The session was conducted via Google Meet.
Our team leader, Ms. Hershelle Agasa, hosted the event, with Ms. Candice Torres serving as our resource speaker. Ms. Torres is a 2D artist currently working at Buko Studio. The main focus of the discussion was on concept art and the importance of storytelling within it.

Once again, I had the opportunity to benefit from both perspectives as an audience member. Ms. Torres's artwork is truly wonderful and incredibly inspiring. I wish I could learn more about her art style. Her approach to coloring, compositing, and rendering is impressive. I gained valuable insights from her discussion on how she approaches concept art, starting from research, moving on to storyboarding, creating additional detailed sketches, and finally developing layouts.
She presented great examples of her work, using grayscale to create color and employing simple shadow blocking in her storyboards. It was remarkable how straightforward her storyboard was; despite the minimal details, it effectively captured the mood and concept, clearly conveying its message. In my opinion, it was already perfect, but seeing her main personal renders and final pieces was even more visually pleasing.
I also noticed that our group had become quieter. My team maintained a more professional atmosphere this time, as did the audience. Some members were still actively engaged, sending a few reactions to her presentation. During the Q&A session, many insightful questions had been prepared and collected during registration.
I hope to recreate something similar and improve my rendering skills to match hers. It was truly a blessing to be part of this webinar, which featured an incredible topic and an outstanding artist as a teacher.

I am currently learning how she uses grayscale in her color techniques. I've noticed that many artists employ this method, and I hope to develop the same skill. As someone who loves art, I find these lessons intriguing and inspiring, motivating me to improve my own creations.
I am also aiming to create simple storyboards that effectively convey a narrative. I often struggle with making my storyboards too detailed, but I've realized that simplicity, as demonstrated by Ms. Torres, can be more effective. The key is to ensure that the scene accurately communicates its intended message. I believe that additional details can be added later once I have a solid understanding of the finalized environment, characters, and style.

I found the lessons valuable, and witnessing such incredible artwork was truly inspiring and motivating for any artist. I believe that every artist would benefit from this experience, as it provides a great opportunity to challenge ourselves and continue pursuing our passions.
As one of the event organizers, I wish there had been more depth to the content. I was surprised by how early Ms. Torres began discussing her lessons. The duration was extended by the Q&A sessions, during which she answered questions and shared her strategies for staying motivated.
