Reflection Paper on The Onsite Seminar Title: Skydev’s Hack, Play, & Learn Summit 2025 “Masterclass"

I attended the Skydevs Hack, Play, & Learn Summit 2025 “Masterclass” organized by Skydev.Solutions Inc. on October 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Harbor Point Activity Center, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City. This onsite seminar focused on various areas of technology and development, aiming to help participants adapt to today’s fast-paced digital world. The summit featured multiple workshops and talks covering Cybersecurity, Game Development, UI/UX Design, CI/CD, Machine Learning, Automation, and API Security. Notable speakers included Dr. Marlon Tayag (Cybersecurity), Arvin Bordios (CI/CD), Mark Thaddeus R. Manuel (Game Development), Romeo John Perez (Game Design), Fatrizha Alejah Boongaling (UI/UX), Marvin Gregorio (API Security), and Simon Gerard Granil (Machine Learning & NLP), among others. The event provided a comprehensive learning experience for students and professionals seeking to enhance their technical skills and knowledge in modern software and IT practices.

From the Skydevs Hack, Play, & Learn Tech Conference 2025, I gained meaningful insights into cybersecurity, game development, and UI/UX design. Dr. Marlon Tayag discussed the importance of strong passwords, avoiding oversharing online, and maintaining proper cyber hygiene to prevent phishing and DDoS attacks. I also learned how personal data is often used for marketing, reminding me that nothing online truly comes for free. What I enjoyed most were the game development sessions by Mark Thaddeus R. Manuel and Romeo John Perez, who explained how to start small, use simple game loops, and apply “game feel” and “juice” to make games more responsive and exciting. They also shared the creative side of designing fun and interactive experiences through collaboration and passion. Lastly, Fatrizha Alejah Boongaling’s talk on UI/UX taught me how visual design and user interaction greatly influence a website or app’s usability. Overall, this conference strengthened my interest in both cybersecurity and game development, inspiring me to keep improving my creativity and technical skills in the IT field.

All of the topics covered were highly relevant to cybersecurity. I learned the importance of not sharing too much personal information and using complex, unique passwords that include information only I know. In terms of game development, I also enjoy creating games, particularly focusing on character designs, unique game mechanics, coding, and more. The session on UI/UX provided me with valuable tips for designing more eye-catching layouts for user interfaces. Overall, these insights were incredibly helpful, and the presenters did an excellent job explaining their topics.

The seminar was excellent, and the speakers did a great job delivering their topics. What I appreciated most was how engaging they were, which encouraged us to be curious and ask questions about their knowledge, experiences, tips, software, and much more. Additionally, since the event was held at Ayala Mall, it was easy for us to grab lunch and return to the seminar after the break. The event also featured an icebreaker activity to keep us entertained, and I enjoyed seeing some participants confidently join in.
